Work at Home Business: Ensure Your's Is not a Freelance Scam

Sunday, February 14, 2010

With the advent of the Internet, the opportunities to work at home have increased greatly. Today, there are several more profiles and services that one can provide from home due to the advancement in technology and communication. Of course, with the enhancement of technology, there has been a surge of people who wish to work from home, and unfortunately, a lot of unscrupulous people have begun targeting them for work at home scams.  Of course, one can easily recognize a work at home scam, or a freelance scam, provided they keep these red flags in mind.

No Business can guarantee a Maserati or a Big Bungalow:

Even the most practical and logical of businesses cannot guarantee you a Maserati or a big bungalow within a year, three years or even six years. A business is an endeavor where you agree to provide services or a product in lieu of a financial transactions. There are so many risks and aspects involved in the business that it would be simply impossible to guarantee that you could even be able to buy a car, let alone a Maserati.

The Advertisement Harps on the 'Work at Home' concept:

Yes, you are looking at the advertisement because you wish to work from home, but that does not mean that the entire content of the ad should just be that you get to work from home. Try to see through the ad and read out whether there is any information given about what kind of job you would be having, what is the actual work that you would be doing, etc. if you do not see the required information that you would wish to see in a genuine and legal work at home opportunity, you should run a mile away from the advertisement.

There is no information about the actual work required:

The one recognizable factor in all freelancing scams is that the ads will either tell you that the job is really simple, or they will keep on harping about the fact that it is so simple that anyone can do it, and can earn millions. Of course, anyone could do it and earn millions, everyone would be doing it, right?

The Ad or website provides an ambiguous or incomplete address:

Think about it,if you start your own business and begin recruiting people, what would be the first thing that you would do, prepare a address and telephone number where people would be able to contact you, right:? Of course, people who are beginning a business cannot overlook such an important and basic fact, and if they do, you can safely presume that it's a scam that is going on.

These are just some of the red flags that you would come across in your life as a freelancer in some of the work at home opportunities that you are looking for. Make sure that you stay away from such opportunities.
